The Family Platform: We call for the full inclusion of all families, including families headed by LGBT people and same-sex couples, in the life of our nation. All families are entitled to equal recognition under the law with all responsibilities, benefits and protections.

Every American, regardless of their background or station in life, should have the same opportunity to achieve the American dream – access to a good education, the ability to work at a job with livable wages, raise and provide for a family, own a home in safe neighborhoods of their choice and live with dignity and security. Each succeeding generation should have the opportunity to enjoy a brighter future than the last. However, the face of America’s families has changed – as have the challenges we confront.

As a nation, we must honor and support the American dream for all families. From employment non-discrimination to family leave, from equal access to housing, public accommodations and health insurance to providing safer schools for our children, we must create a world where all loving families, including those headed by parents who are LGBT, are recognized, respected and protected.
