Tell your Representative: CoSponsor the Equality Act!
(Or THANK THEM if they are already a co-sponsor ☺️)
In January, the Trump Administration granted South Carolina a waiver to allow adoption and foster care agencies to ignore federal nondiscrimination policies and discriminate on the basis of religion. On top of eight other states with laws that allow discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, we need Congress to act to stop discrimination in adoption and foster care.
Rep. Cicilline is seeking original cosponsors to join him in reintroducing the Equality Act in 2019. This bill would prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ people in employment, housing, public accommodations, and federally funded programs – including foster care and adoption.
We also want your representatives to cosponsor Do No Harm Act when it is introduced by Reps. Bobby Scott and Joe Kennedy, to prohibit misuse of religious freedom laws to justify discriminating against people of other faiths or people who are nonreligious.
Contact your Representative NOW and ask them cosponsor the Equality Act and the Do No Harm Act!
(If your representative is already a cosponsor of the Equality Act, the message will update automatically to thank them for their support)
